Note: My friend Lady Day has also completed a poem about ‘eyes’, check it out, your eyes will not disappoint! Feel free to add your own eye poem and link in the comment section!
Burning Eyes
coal eyes
trample me sadly,
burnished,
like her flesh,
they are raked and old
.
through red dirt dragged,
by demon soldier moments,
her lashes lower slowly,
like curtains
.
players unthinkable wait dryly,
for final call
and with my eyes of yearning fear,
I am stretching, sinuous,
past tearing, devil thorns,
striking at forgiveness
.
forced beyond endurance,
forced to truly stick back these eyes,
strip down to bare compassion
and
fall
into her broken heart
.
I take the hit
willingly, for what it is worth,
branded and burning.
Very loaded and intense. Good show!

it is based on watching someone else go through or actually become forever lost inside a traumatic experience….and having to find a type of forgiveness myself for her attackers in order to come away intact…. it is about what the eyes see and reveal and try to hide……her eyes full of pain, her attackers eyes dry and unemotional, my eyes touched and desperate for some kind of solace for her..and myself and the world and the perpetrator….

and you’ve said it all in the eyes… you’re a masterpiece factory my friend 🙂 (I’ll come back and read this still… so i can appreciate it’s full beauty, really exhausted right now.. but thanks for the explanation… the poem is shorter than your comment hahaha… sigh, so much is said in so little… making each word a unique gem)

Eyes see so much. And – as time passes by they just see more & more – The good, the bad & everything in-between.

Dear SilverPoet, In addition to the “One Lovely Blog Award” from Paz, I have nominated you for the “Sunshine Award” because your poetry brings a ray of sunshine into my “Blogosphere.” I want others to catch the warmth of your thoughts, too. Check out the award at janbeek.wordpress.com Whether you do the “stuff” to accept it or not is not the important thing. It’s the affirmation. You’re good, man!!

crisp writing you have. simply i see standing up for another. i get along with most, but i tend to gravitate to the underdog when i start to smell things aren’t as they should. sometimes though cliques can be very clever. i don’t like them much.

i hear you. It is about standing up, but also about finding forgiveness and compassion within me for things that are almost impossible to forgive for someone who should never be expected to forgive… a bit convoluted! 🙂
