my response to Rainer Maria Rilke’s Duino Elegies , below is the fifth of ten poems.
This body
rising fleshly
dough
bursting flowers forth
the hue of singular purpose
though unknown
peeking blue by blue
over brickwork
through little windows
purple red and gold
the light brings peace
while
stepping on trembling steps
controlled by rusty beat
copied in astrological brainstorm
a supernova idea
easily lost in this puddle
easily sweetly
dissolving
though at the core
the foundation
smoother and heavier than stone

Wonderful poem to read out loud. I love how the recurring rhyme of ‘o’ (dough, though, unknown etc) culminates in that last word ‘stone.’ For some reason when I was reading it, though 🙂 , I kept wanting to reverse the order of the second line, so it said ‘fleshly rising’ instead…

haha you are so intuitive! I originally had fleshly rising, but I wanted the body to be rising rather than the adjective…. hmmm but yes it flows better the original way i agree xxxxx you are cool

I love the word supernova! i always wish that i hadn’t used it already so I can use it again, like regretting finishing a good book

I love that word, too. Always been one of my favorites…so very ultimate, when it comes to describing an end with a beginning. Or something explosive. Or, or, or. 🙂

I don’t know how, but I understood every bit of this beautiful poetry. Wow, “though at the core, the foundation, smoother and heavier than stone.” I can feel that.

thankyou and i think it is meant to trickle into the body and speak to the cells rather than the rational mind. I don’t understand my words myself but I KNOW the feeling xxxx
