Nowhere Man

my feet are lighter than water

and skin

a warm but repetitive thing

gouache spreads, I am riding this light

a dynamic cellular beating lifts and a rush of wing feeds the air

I am the nowhere man

holding the gold with certain eyes, willing the contrast

striking the wrist and peeling the flesh….

kneading morbid thought in silver fists

I AM

pulling grass with smiling ivory

cracking twigs and ribs

knowing

in the desert

in the centre of coral

in the midst of leaking heat

my feet

are lighter

than water

Bear Feet

In this world of gridlock

and perilous edges,

I

move

from infant towing ducks

and

l i n e s

to

here

and still the steady growth of skin in which to fit soul and all.

I wish to curl,

fingers in fingers,

but bear feet stretch and dig,

fists are balled and hoping.

Blood sticks

to my toes,

occasional sadness expands

and

leaves

the body,

downstream

via silver boats…..

…..

…………

…………..

…………..

..

But the lines are very dark

and whales are needed to tow them now,

because even on my bravest days

I cannot.
